Elizabeth May (Moss) Barker

Elizabeth May (Moss) Barker 89, of Waynesboro, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at her home at Summit Square Community. She was born in Valentine, Nebraska, on January 24, 1935, a daughter of the late Thomas Marshall and Garnett Marie (Overman) Moss.

Elizabeth worked as a self-employed gift shop owner until her retirement. She was an active member of Fishersville United Methodist Church in her earlier years. Elizabeth enjoyed volunteering and making friends at her home in Summit Square. She will be remembered for her outward personality.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Maghee Barker and her granddaughter, Vanessa.

Survivors include her sons: David M. Barker, Jr. and wife, Charlotte, Richard T. Barker and wife, Tanya, and  Bradford A. Barker and wife, Susanne; grandchildren:, Stacy,  Melanie, Thomas, Patrick , Allen, and  Anja;  two great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.

The family will have a private graveside service at Oakwood Methodist Church, where Elizabeth will be laid to rest beside her husband at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Elizabeth’s memory to Summit Square Community, 501 Oak Ave., Waynesboro, VA 22980.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Summit Square for their loving care and friendship over the years.
