Elihue Jackson "E.J." Meade

Elihue “E.J.” Meade, 91, of Fishersville, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Lebanon, VA, on January 23, 1932, a son of the late O.B. and Pauline Meade.

E.J. proudly served in the United States Air Force and was discharged in 1952. He worked until his retirement as a truck driver with Smith Transfer. E.J. attended Crossroads Baptist Church. He loved to go to auctions to buy and sell antiques.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Joan E. Meade; sons: Jackie, Jeffrey, and Greg Meade; brothers: Jim, Clifford, and R.C. Meade and sister, Arletta Swindell. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Survivors include his granddaughter, Tabitha Pelaccio; four great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.

A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 11am on Friday, June 30, 2023 at OakLawn Memory Gardens in Staunton. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery.

There will be no public viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
