Dorothy "Boots" (Fitzgerald) Alford

Dorothy “Boots” Alford, 77, of Waynesboro, went to be with the Lord, Monday, March 25, 2024 at Kings Daughters, Staunton.  She was born December 14, 1946 in Charlottesville, daughter of the late Grover Fitzgerald and Maggie (Scott) Fitzgerald.

Boots was a “Prayer Warrior” member of Mountain View Full Gospel Church, Afton. Among her favorite interests were cooking, taking pictures, sunrises and the beach.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the care and love shown by Kings Daughters and the Mountain View Full Gospel Congregation.

In addition to her parents, “Boots” was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard, Donnie and Dwayne Fitzgerald; her sister, Marilyn Roberson and her special aunt, Louise Puckett.

Survivors include her sons, Scotty Alford and Tracy Alford; her grandson, Cody Ray Alford and great-granddaughter, Janey Mae Alford; her sister, Wilma Hanckel; her aunt, Lillian Gibson and her special friends, Becky Stump and Connie Swisher.

In lieu of flowers the family will graciously accept memorial contributions to Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Dr., Fishersville, VA 22939, to be applied to funeral expenses.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, April 1, 2024 at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery, 66 Tanbark Ln., Afton, conducted by the Rev. Scott Jewell. Serving as active pallbearers will be Brandon Lucas, Tracy Goolsby, Josh Roberson, Jody Shifflett, Logan Roberson, Jonathan Engleman, Noah Terrell, and Greg Roberson.
