Doris Elizabeth McLaughlin, age 73, of Waynesboro, passed away in Fishersville on Saturday, November 9, 2019.
She was born on May 19, 1946 in Harrisonburg, VA. and was baptized at Wayne Hills Baptist Church. Doris retired from Dupont after 15 years of service as a factory worker.
She was active in the St. Jude’s Children Charity Fund; she loved cooking and was a fan of Nascar and dirt track racing.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents Tommy Madison and Elizabeth Mae Dunaway Harris; her husband Ray Arnet McLaughlin; her sister Barbara Dunaway Rios and her maternal grandparents.
She is survived by her children, Sharon and her husband Larry Hypes of Waynesboro, Janice Rodriguez of Mexico, Tracy and her husband Mitchell Lawson of Waynesboro, and Travis and his wife Crystal McLaughlin of Waynesboro; her grandchildren Amanda McLaughlin Mendoza, Shandie Bradshaw, Larry Hypes, Jr., Brandon McGhee, Brittany Fox, Cory Lawson, Maverick Lawson, Macy Chapman, Riley Randall, Rusty Randall; great-grandchildren Alonza McLaughlin, Cohen Bradshaw, Max McGhee, Adrianna McLaughlin, Makinley Bradshaw, Hunter Ray Lawson, Beckham Fox, Bear Hypes, Olive Fox, Remijo Hypes, and soon to arrive Tyson Lane Fridley. She is also survived by her siblings Joyce Garrison, Mickey Pike, and Edward Harris; other family and special friends Mark McLaughlin, Jean Clark, Edna Craig Collins and many more.
She was a loving wife, mother and maw maw was also known affectionately as “Dot”.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the ICU nursing staff at Augusta Health Center and Dr. Kristin Turza.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 2pm, with a memorial service to follow at 3pm at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Dr. Fisherville, VA 22939. Interment will be private in Monterey, VA
