Doretha A. Goines

Doretha A. Goines, 70, of Afton, departed her life on Friday, December 8, 2023, surrounded by her family and friends.  She was born February 1, 1953, daughter of the late Josh Junior Goines and Ollie Lee Smith Goines.

Doretha dedicated her life to serving in the ministry, her family and community.  One of the many things she enjoyed was throwing down in the kitchen.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Goines and Charles Salisbury and two sisters, Annette Goines and Brenda Smith.

She is survived by her three sisters, Barbara Cauls of Waynesboro, Mary Irving and husband, Dan of Faber and Rosetta Goines of Afton; her three brothers, Marshall Goines of Faber, John Goines and Russell Goines of Afton. Her two nieces and nephew that she helped raise, Alexus, Dyshae and Corey Brown. Also surviving is her Aunt Shirley Cole and her husband, William of Waynesboro and numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held 12 Noon, Wednesday, December 13, 2023 in the Chapel of Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville where the family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the hour of the service.  Burial will follow at Mt. Woodland Baptist Church Cemetery, 254 Greenfield Road, Afton, VA 22920.
