David Joseph "Joe" Maupin

David Joseph “Joe” Maupin, 82 of Waynesboro, VA, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. Born in his beloved Free Union, VA, on October 14, 1940, where he resided most of his life.

David’s chosen career path, a truck driver, being a hard worker and a dedicated employee enabled him to travel across the USA to all 48 contiguous states.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin J. and Irene (Ward) Maupin; wife, Carolyn Sue Maupin; daughter, Terri (Maupin) Meeks; son-in-law, Montie Meeks of Free Union, VA; daughter, Pamela Maupin Shifflett of Crozet, VA.

Survivors include his son-in-law, Timothy Shifflett of Crozet, VA; special nephew, Kenneth Shifflett, special niece, Donna Shifflett; great nephew, Jason Shifflett and wife, Brandy; great great niece, Annistyn; great great nephew, Kemper; cousins; as well as extended family and friends.

Following cremation, a private burial service will be conducted at Mt. Hedding Cemetery in Greenville, West Virginia.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 2pm until 4pm at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home in Fishersville, VA.
