Daphine “Peggy” Ross Fletcher

Daphine “Peggy” Ross Fletcher, 88, of Waynesboro, a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 28, 2022. She was born in Augusta County on September 17, 1933, a daughter of the late Gilbert Dewey and Mary Elizabeth (Wolfe) Ross.

Peggy's most cherished memories were spending time with her family, singing with her daddy and brothers as a member of “The Singing Ross Family”, and teaching piano to her beloved students for 40 years. Peggy was a devoted Christian and member of Community Fellowship Church of the Nazarene.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth James “Jay” Fletcher; siblings, Bill Ross and wife, Phyllis, Jerry Ross and wife, Polly, Ray Ross, Lamar Ross, and brother-in-law, Harry Smith. 

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Andy Fletcher and wife, Louise, Ross Fletcher, and wife, Sandy, Tracie Spears and husband, (special son-in-law), Gary, and Scott Fletcher; her seven beloved grandchildren and five great grandchildren; siblings, sister, Coralee Smith, brother, Jimmy Ross and wife, Betty, and sister-in-law, Frankie Ross; as well as the Hutchinson family; numerous extended family, church family, neighbors, and friends.

A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home in Fishersville with Pastors Jim Corbin and Tim Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Andy Fletcher, Ross Fletcher, Scott Fletcher, Gary Spears, David Spears, and Brad Spears. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Kings Daughters, the doctors and nurses at Augusta Health, and the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah Team: Heather, Mary, Virginia, Heidi, Tiffany, and Chaplin Dennis.
