Coy B. Linton, Jr., 84, passed away peacefully at home in Waynesboro, Virginia on Saturday, March 11, 2023 with his family by his side. He was born in Paint Bank, Virginia on November 29, 1938 to Coy B. Linton, Sr. and Effie Frances Mottesheard Linton.
At eighteen months of age, his family relocated to Greenbrier County, West Virginia where he grew up and attended school in Organ Cave, West Virginia. He was a graduate of Greenbrier High School in Ronceverte, West Virginia where he met his high school sweetheart, Cora Sue Elmore of Fort Springs, West Virginia. They were married on June 5, 1959 in Ronceverte. Mr. Linton passed three months shy of celebrating their 64th wedding anniversary.
With a thirty two year tenure, Coy retired from DuPont in Waynesboro, Virginia. While simultaneously working shift work at DuPont, his passion was the 1973 purchase, and thorough renovation, of an historic 1908 dream property affectionately named the 5L20 Farm. Among his fondest endeavors was restoring old tractors, including his cherished Case 470 tractor handed down to him by his father. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, listening to his children sing and play music, along with spending time with family and friends. He was a longstanding member of Cornerstone Church of Augusta where he was an usher and enjoyed greeting congregants because he never met a stranger. Coy was an advocate for ComfortCare Women’s Health of Waynesboro.
