Christine Theresa Myers passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at King’s Daughters Community Health Hospital in Staunton, Virginia.
Christine was born December 4, 1947, to the late Arthur Colbert Myers and Louise Benedict Anson-Myers in San Francisco, California.
Christine had no children of her own, but she had close relationships with nieces, nephews, and other young children with her nurturing instincts.
She was lovingly called by enduring names such as Auntie, Mama C, and Ms. Chris. She also had a true passion for cats. Over the years she owned several cats of which she leaves behind her precious cat Coco. A beautiful home for Coco was found before her passing.
She had a love for music and her favorite songs were “Earth Angel” and “A Casual Look,” these songs inspired her to sing. As a young girl, Christine loved to sing and as a teenager, she was featured on a music television show as an upcoming singer in Los Angeles, California in the mid-sixties. Christine also loved to play cards, bid wiz, spades and dominoes were her favorites. She always said she could “whoop” anybody.
Christine later met Rayfield “true heart” White, whom she shared some of her younger life with, in Los Angeles.
Christine moved to Staunton from Los Angeles in 2007. She became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where Grace and Mercy lifted her up in times of trouble and pain. One of her favorite hymns was Hold on to God’s Unchanging Hand.
She was preceded in death by her Mother Louise Anson-Myers; Father Arthur Myers; Stepmother Alberta Belton; Brother Gary Myers; Sisters Darlene Myers and Winona Dyer; Grandparents Conrad and Ruth Anson; Aunts Abbie Mayfield and Nadine Cherry; Uncles Conrad, Gilbert and Oliver Anson all from California.
She is survived by her sisters Janet (Jimmy) Hendrix of Staunton Virginia; Diane Bruce of Pomona, California; Nieces Pamela (Sean) Chargois of Atlanta, Georgia; Delanie (Darell) Crawford of Chantilly, Virginia; Brandell Davis and Chelsey Christine Bruce of Pomona California; Rashonda Myers of San Diego, California; Special cousins Saundra Wedlow, Ruth (Cookie) Mayfield and Michael Mayfield from Los Angeles, California; also, many great nieces, nephews, family, and special friend Sharon Huggard.
A Memorial/Celebration of Life service will also be held in Los Angeles, CA for family and friends at a later date.
