Bonnie Rae Fitzgerald

Bonnie Rae Fitzgerald, 76, of Stuarts Draft, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 in Fishersville.

Bonnie was born on January 6, 1946 in Staunton to the late John Franklin Fitzgerald and the late Irene Conner Fitzgerald.

She graduated from Wilson Memorial High School and Wilson Technical School. She retired after 46 years at the Waynesboro News Virginian as Graphics Designer.     

Bonnie was very active in the Food Pantry where she was a lifelong member of Calvary United Methodist Church and various roles including taking care of the nursery. She won many awards from the Media while employed by the News Virginian Newspaper.

She loved ceramics and was also a part of the Tsungahani Indian Dance Group along with her beloved niece, Pam.

Bonnie dearly loved her family and treasured her time with them. She always thought of her niece and nephews as hers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a niece, Cheri Leigh Harris and a brother-in-law, J.C. Snead.

Bonnie is survived by her loving sisters, Wanda Snead and Linda (Buck) Harris of Stuarts Draft; niece, Pam (Dave) Beatty; Nephews, Chuck (Betty) Harris and Chad (Shannon) Harris; great nieces and nephews, Krista Prevette, Kelli (Travis) Lowe, Lyndsay Harris, Colton Harris and Keith (Katie) Beatty; great-great nephews, Michael and Nate Prevette, Levi Lowe, Kylie and Kali Beatty.

The family would like to thank the staff of Choices Nursing Home for their loving care of Bonnie. She leaves behind many friends at the home.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Calvary United Methodist Church and where a funeral service will be held 2;00 pm. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Dave Beatty, Chuck Harris, Sam Wade, Ronnie Dameron, Bobby Rusmisell, Ken Litchfield, Mickey Conner and Doug Fravel. Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Food Pantry at Calvary United Methodist Church, 2179 Stuarts Draft, VA 24477.
