Bobby Weems Hoy, 87, of Lyndhurst, passed away on May 28, 2021, at his daughter’s home in Stuarts Draft.  He was born March 30, 1934 in Waynesboro, son of the late Otho T. Hoy and Ruth P. Sampson Hoy.

He loved his role in the church apple dumpling project, purchasing over 3000 apples every year and helping to peel them. “Pop Hoy” was a talented handyman and spent his life serving others.

Survivors include his children, Jennifer Vela (Pablo) of Stuarts Draft, Christopher Hoy (Anne) of Covesville, Matthew Hoy (Mildred) of Waynesboro and Natasha Manning (Darrell) of Lynchburg; his thirteen grandchildren, Nickolas Vela, Jordan Vela (Madalyn) McKenzie Wells (Jeff), Jessica Hoy, Winston Hoy, Annaliese Black (Tyler), Emily Drumeller (Sam), Mariah Hoy, Dustin Manning, Malia Manning, Alana Manning, Haven Manning and Grant Manning; his four great-grandchildren, Lila Vela, Evan Vela, Brody Wells, Nora Wells and baby girl Wells due in November; his sister, Louise Matheny of Lyndurst; his brother, Thomas Hoy of Waynesboro; his two sisters-in-law, Sandy Hoy of Waynesboro and Isabelle Elmore (Thurman) of Colonial Heights.

One of his friends summarized his life saying, “He bore his testimony by the sweat of his brow, the highest metric of service”.
