Bill Looney Obituary

Bill Looney, 83, of Stuarts Draft, VA, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Augusta Nursing and Rehab in Fishersville. He was born in Charleston, AR, on November 27, 1941, a son of the late Onnie C. and Gladis Lorene (Moon) Looney.

Bill received his associate’s degree in business and retired in 2015 after working in the tech sector for 50 years, which he greatly enjoyed. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran.   In recent years, he has been a member of Rock Steady Boxing at the Staunton YMCA, where he bravely fought his Parkinson’s Disease.  

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Jan Speare; children, Jennifer Doyle and husband, Chris, Suzanne Stephens, and Kelley Swendrowski and husband, Kyle; grandchildren, Bradley Brown and Kayle Swendrowski; brother, Wayne Looney of Charleston, AR; as well as extended family and friends.

Per Bill’s wishes, he has donated his body to research and will later be buried at Potts Cemetery in Charleston, AR.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 5757 Waterford District Dr., Suite 310, Miami, FL, 33126. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Charlton and Groome Funeral Home in Fishersville, VA.    A celebration of his life will be held at 2pm on April 3, 2025 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Fishersville.
