Betty C. (Critzer) Higgs

Betty C. Higgs, 82, of Scottsville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 30, 2021 in Stuarts Draft.

She was born on April 4, 1939 in Nelson County to the late Louie Alton Critzer and the late Ollie Henderson Critzer.

She graduated from Wilson Memorial High School in 1956 and worked at Kmart in Charlottesville for 33 years before she retired in 1997.

She loved to be outdoors and her hobbies were 305 Virginia Sprint Series Races, loved her vegetable and flower garden, crocheting and most of all spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Higgs; six brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her son, James A. Higgs and his wife, Jackie of Stuarts Draft; daughter, Donna J. Kingrea and her husband, Pete of Scottsville; special grandchildren, Jessica Rankin, Victoria (Tori) Kingrea, Ashley Austin and Kathy Shi; great grandchildren, Amber, Christopher, Christain, Joel and Ava; sisters, Sylvia Cook of Crimora and Laura (Susie) Love of Stuarts Draft; brother, James David Critzer of Crimora and numerous nephews, nieces and lots of friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home in Fishersville.

A graveside service will be held 2:00pm on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Shenandoah and a special thank you to Megan Greenwood.
