Betty Laine Putney

Betty Laine Putney, age 97 of Waynesboro, VA, went home to her Lord and Savior on March 29, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Evelyn Laine (nee Hatcher), her brother, Garland Laine, and her loving husband of 57 years, Reid Putney.

Betty is survived by her three sons, Taylor (Janet), Stephen (Frankie), and Douglas (Betsy), her six grandchildren, Michael (Kelly), Melissa (Todd), Laura, Amy, Reid (Ali), and Martha, and her four great-grandchildren, Emily, Sydney, Leah, and Peter.

Betty was a graduate of the College of William and Mary. She lived her life as a follower of Jesus Christ, and as a mother and homemaker to her family. Betty was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Staunton, VA.

Inheriting artistic talent from her mother, she created many beautiful paintings, primarily of the farms, buildings, wildlife, and mountains of western Virginia. She commented often about how much she loved living near the beautiful Virginia mountains.

She will be missed by the many friends and family who loved her.

Visitation will be held at the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Dr., Fishersville, VA 22939, Saturday, April 11 at 1:00 PM, with funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM. Following the service light refreshments will be served. Burial will occur at a later date with only immediate family in attendance.
