Barry Lenard West, Jr., was born on the 28th day of March 1987 in Richmond, Virginia.  The Lord called him home August 30th, 2018.  Barry was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Annette West.

Barry graduated from Thomas Dale High School and during his senior year received the Offensive Player of the Year Award as Running Back.  Soon after graduating, Barry decided to enlist in the United States Army.  Barry served for six years in the Army and during his enlistment, he was deployed to Iraq and later Afghanistan.  Barry was awarded numerous Decorations, Medals, Badges, Citations and Campaign Ribbons.  These awards include the following:  Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 2 Campaign Stars, Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Bar (2nd Award), NATO Medal and Expert Marksmanship Badge with Rifle Bar.  Barry completed the remainder of his duty as an Air Traffic Control Operator in Afghanistan.

Barry’s passions were writing and listening to music.  He also recorded several of his creations.  Some of his hobbies were traveling internationally, attending Virginia Tech football games with his dad, attending Carolina Panthers NFL football games with his better-half, flying drones and playing football with his nephews and future step-sons.

Barry Jr. is survived by his family who love and miss him deeply.  His father, Barry Sr. (Katie); his devoted sister, Deiondra Jeter (Derek); his brother, Marquell Diggs and sister, LaToya Diggs; his grandmother, Janette Branch; a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and his devoted better-half, Teyla and soon to be born, his daughter, Blessyn Annette-Asriel West, a precious gift from God.

Barry Jr. gave his life to the Lord at an early age.  Barry exemplified this through his upstanding character and love he bestowed upon all.
