Annie Marie (Shifflett) Layne

Annie Marie (Shifflett) Layne, 79, of Waynesboro passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at her sister’s home in Fishersville. She was born in Albemarle County on December 20, 1944, a daughter of the late Pauline Frances (Shifflett) Price.

Annie worked as a Laborer with Murry's Manufacturing Company until the company closed. She was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church.  Riding motorcycles, camping, and spending time with her family were a few of her favorite hobbies.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Paul S. and Annie Shifflett, who raised her like their own; step-father, Stanley G. Price; husband, Donald Eugene Layne, Sr. and her son, Donald Eugene Layne, Jr.

Survivors include her siblings, Betty Johnson and husband, Ronald and Wayne Price and wife, Gaitha; cousin, Patricia Frazier, who was like a sister to Annie; as well as extended family and friends.

Following a private burial, a celebration of life service will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Gospel Light Baptist Church, 860 Maryland Ave, Waynesboro, with Pastor Joey Locklear officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Annie’s church, Gospel Light Baptist Church.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff with Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for their loving care of Annie and her family.
