Alvina Temple Fitzgerald

Alvina Temple Fitzgerald, 73, of Greenville, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Augusta Health. She was born in Staunton on October 27, 1951, a daughter of the late Alvin Finley Fitzgerald, Sr. and Phyllis Temple Newman.

Alvina worked as a cashier.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Coffey and siblings: Cheryl Watson, Valda Long, Alvin (Finley), Jr., Earl Fitzgerald, and Glenn Fitzgerald.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas “Butch” Rote; children: Elizabeth Good (Gary) of Staunton, Sandie Coffey (Barbara Beaman) of Lyndhurst, Susan Diann Williams of Mt. Solon, Ronnie Williams of Churchville, and Kenneth Michael Bosserman; grandchildren: Jesse Bosserman, Brie Lawhorne, Christopher Evans, Valerie Avellaneda, Lacy Bosserman, Dillon Payne, Jordan Harner, Dezzy Harner, Summer Harner, Dakota Bodkin, Waylon Sandridge, Destiny Good, Chris Brooks, Samara Williams, Devin Booth, Robert Bosserman, Anthony Bosserman, Gracelynn Bosserman, and Nevaeh Bosserman; great grandchildren: Jaidence Rankin, Isabelle Bosserman, Sky Strausbaugh, Willow Bosserman, Kyndell Lambert, Travis Evans, Athena Harner, Karen Harner, Shelby Bodkin, and DJ Bodkin; siblings, Paula Shiley of Staunton and Janice Rodenbo of Hopewell; niece, Amy Bess; nephew, Dennis Long, Jr.; special friends: Arielle Gitchell, Brantley Sprouse, Christopher Sprouse, Caleb Drumheller, Brian Harner, Wendy Harner, Gabby James, William Smith, Phoebe Smith, and Piper Smith.

Following cremation, the family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 6pm until 8pm at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home.

Burial will be held privately at Oak Lawn Memory Gardens.
