Pastor Vernon R. Berry

Pastor Vernon Ray Berry, 87, of Waynesboro went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 10, 2017 in Fishersville.

He was born January 28, 1930 in Madison County, VA to Lancelot Chandler Berry and Nora Alice Berry.

He was the Pastor of Central Baptist Church of Waynesboro for 57 years and his saying was “Trust and Obey”. He was an avid fisherman and loved baseball.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Fred Berry and Earl Berry; sisters, Isabell Hahn and Nellie Williams; grandson, Matt Megginson and a grandson-in-law, Jeremy Wright.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Lou Berry; children, Dotty (Philip) VanLear, Sam (Sandy) Berry, Tom (Debbie) Berry and Raymond (Debbie) Berry; grandchildren, Veronica, Jacob, Ryan, Chad, Andrew, Seth, James, Heather, Colton, Victoria and Cameron; nine great grandchildren; sister, Holly (Jerry) Watkins and a brother, Roger Lee (Anna Lee) Berry.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, 15, 2017 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, VA 22939.

A funeral service will be held 11:00am on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Central Baptist Church, 261 Bookerdale Road, Waynesboro conducted by Pastor Tim Hall. Interment will follow in Augusta Memorial Park, Waynesboro.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be great grandchildren and children of the church.
