Nellie Mae Painter Sharpe, 94, of Fishersville went to be with the Lord on April 30, 2017 at Royal Care Assisted Living in Staunton.
She was born on August 22, 1922 in Virginia to the late Charles Emmett Painter and Lillian Lawhorn Painter.
She was a graduate of Fairfield High School and retired a Relay Operator from General Electric.
She is a member of Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church and the Heavenly Bound Sunday School Class.
She enjoyed games, cards, church, word puzzles, scrabble and reading.
She is loved by everyone and was a joy to be around and a blessing. She loved the Lord and her family, friends and was always open for a visit. God bless you “Maw” and you will forever be in our hearts and loved. You were the sweetest of the sweet.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie T. Sharpe; Brothers, Clarence Painter and Tommy Painter; sisters, Mary Ann Painter and Marie Painter Campbell; niece, Fonda Painter Fitzgerald.
She is survived daughters, Pauline Lawhorne McKechnie and Gloria S. Mundy; grandchildren, Lisa Kyle and husband, John, Renae Deffenbaugh and husband, Jeff, Ricky Mundy and wife, Tammy, Amy Mundy Baker and husband, Chuck: Great grandchildren, Samantha Kyle, Jori Deffenbaugh, Lexi Deffenbaugh, Grant Baker, Aaron Baker, Cameron Baker, Abby Mundy, Tyler Mundy and a niece, Wanda Falls and cousins.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Hospice, Dr. Heck, Royal Care, Bobby Meek, friends at Royal Care Assisted Living and to Lorie of Royal care for her loving care.
A celebration of life will be held 4:00 pm on May 5, 2017 at Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Paul LaPrevotte and Rev. James W. Simmons.
Interment will be private at Augusta Memorial Park.
