Mabel Alice Harris

Mabel Alice Harris “Peaches”, 82, of Waynesboro, VA passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Augusta County, VA on January 20, 1935 to the late Hallie Althea and James Walker Harris.

She retired in 2001 after 38 years of service in the cafeteria at the Waynesboro E. I. DuPont plant.

She was a member of the Greenfield Pentecostal Church.

The family would also like to thank the Ruxton/Envoy Nursing Home for taking such good care of her during her time there.

Also, preceding her in death were three sisters; Ethel L. Baber, Mildred M. Bryant and Patricia A. Blankenbaker. Three brothers; Charles W. Harris, Howe D. Truslow and Howell D. Truslow. Also, an infant great-grandaughter.

Surviving are her daughter Darlene F. Fitzgerald and her husband Carl. Two grandchildren; Malissa F. Goode and her husband Kevin, and Bobby L. Blankenbaker and his fiancé Anna. Three great-grandchildren; Jonathan L. Layne, Brittany S. Layne and Leena M. Goode. One sister; Jean A. Harris and her special friend Jesse. Two brothers; Bobby A. Harris and George E. Harris and his wife Carolyn. As well as, sister-in law Evelyn Harris, Barbara Truslow and Madge Truslow. Also, numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home at 619 Lifecore Drive in Fishersville, VA on Friday, October 27, 2017, at 2:00pm officiated by Pastor Jonathan King.

The family will receive friends after the memorial service at the home of her granddaughter Malissa F.Goode at 229 North Delphine Ave. in Waynesboro, VA

A private burial will be scheduled later.
