Linda Lou Cubbage Winston, 71, passed at her residence early Monday morning, January 21, 2019. She was born on July 29, 1947 to Rev. Samuel E. Cubbage and Juanita V. Cubbage, who both preceded her in death. She was raised in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and graduated from Lucy F. Simms High School under the plight of segregation, but still persevered.
She attended Business College in Raleigh-Durham and moved to Washington, DC where she met and married Brady Davis. She worked as an administrative assistant for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She later relocated to Waynesboro, VA where she remarried the late Harry Winston, and has made her home for the last 38 years.
Linda loved people, her family and the Lord. She joined Living Word Worship Center in 2018 and was a member of St. James Baptist Church for many years prior.
She leaves behind two daughters, Angela Davis and husband, Paul Watkins of Waynesboro, LeAndra Cubbage of Glen Allen; a sister, Diane Williams and husband, Col. Louis R. Williams of Bowie, MD; two grandchildren, Skyler and Jamar Davis of Waynesboro; six great grandchildren, Amira, Kingsley, Carter and Kinden Davis, Jesiah Carter and Malayah Smith- all of Waynesboro. Also, five cherished nieces and nephews, Andrea Hampton of Deland, FL, Ronald Williams of Bowie, MD, Christol Williams of National Harbor, MD, Villandriquez Hampton of Silverspring, MD and Alyse Hampton of New York, NY. Many aunts and cousins that comprise our Elkton Family will mourn her loss.
The family will miss her dearly but submits to the Lord’s Divine Plan and will celebrate her homegoing.
Rev. Mark McCoy will conduct a funeral service at 11am, Saturday, January 26, at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Dr., Fishersville, VA. The family will receive friends and family from 10-11am, prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will follow repass at Bible Way Church of God Cemetery in Elkton, VA.
