Kenneth Van Meter

Kenneth Van Meter, 70, of Waynesboro, Virginia, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2019 at his home.  He was born June 4, 1949, in Carrier Mills, Illinois, son of the late Charles Arthur Van Meter and Doris Jean Van Meter.

He was a graduate of Carrier Mills High School and was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force; he served as an Orthopedic Technician and had attained the rank of Master Sergeant.  He retired from the Air Force on September 30, 1991, with 23 years of service. From January 21, 1992 until his retirement on September 30, 2011, he was employed as a purchasing agent with the University of Virginia Medical Center. His interests included wood working and music, particularly the acoustic and electric guitar.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Susan Van Meter; his son, Christopher Van Meter of Staunton; his daughter, Laura Wilfong and her husband, Anthony Wilfong of Waynesboro and his granddaughter, Bella Wilfong; his brother, Gary Van Meter of Morehead, Kentucky and his sister, Barbara Kennedy of Carrier Mills, Illinois.
