Janine Riley Heitzenrater, 57, of 23 Yeager Place, Waynesboro, went to be with the Lord on July 31st, 2019. A native of Waynesboro, she was a daughter of Ernest and Virginia Riley, mother of Alice McCoy and Sara Heitzenrater, and grandmother of Nayomi Faith. She was joyfully anticipating the imminent arrival of two more grandchildren this fall.
Janine Devoted her life to caring for children. She had served as the Nursery Coordinator at Calvary United Methodist Church in Stuarts Draft where she was a life-long member, and also provided childcare services for area families.
An Avid crafter, she was a member of “Doll Class,” a group of ladies who shared a love of making porcelain dolls. She also loved to crochet and made many beautiful items for family and friends.
In addition to her parents and daughters, she is survived by her sisters, Susan Simmers and husband Doug, of Stuarts Draft and Kara Parr and husband Stoney, of Crimora; Her daughter-in-law Jillian McCoy, wife of Alice McCoy; Stepdaughters Jessica Heitzenrater of Meriden, Connecticut and Mary Kahn and husband Justin of Meriden, Connecticut and their twins Rei and Oliver Heitzenrater; Nephews, Eric Simmers and wife Sarah, of Dunedin Florida and Timothy Simmers and wife Wendy Simmers, of Stuarts Draft and their children; Nieces, Anna Mikolay and husband Brian, of Stuarts Draft, Adara Strickler and husband Brandon, of Staunton, and their children; and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends.
A celebration of Janine’s life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 3rd at Calvary United Methodist Church at 2179 Stuarts Draft Hwy, Stuarts Draft, with Pastors David Vaughan and Jennelle Watson officiating. Memorial Contributions can be made to Hospice of the Shenandoah or Calvary United Methodist Church for youth mission funds.
