Irene F. (Castaldi) Helmick

Irene F. Helmick, 91, of Greenville, Virginia, passed away, Thursday, February 1, 2018, at Envoy of Staunton.  She was born April 5, 1926, in Chiapas, Mexico, daughter of the late Juan Castaldi and Maura Castaldi.

After her graduation from High School she attended Secretarial School.  Irene had been a member of Greenville United Methodist Church for 52 years and was an active member of the Staunton Senior Center.  She loved to dance.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Staunton Senior Center, Ray Kimble and Glenna Cash.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Evangelina Nava and Guadalupe Salas and her brother Dionicho Castaldi.

She is survived by two daughters, Liliana R. Fisher of Apex, North Carolina and Jennie Helmick Shifflett of Greenville, Virginia; two grandchildren, Jessica M. Fisher of Raleigh, North Carolina and Bryan A. Helmick of Roanoke, Virginia.

A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 P. M., Friday, February 9, 2018, at Greenville United Methodist Church, 126 Main Street, Greenville, VA  24440, conducted by Pastor Kevin Haynes.  The family will receive friends at the church after the memorial service.
