Ellen “Granny” Brooks Ralston, 95, of Augusta Farms Rd, Waynesboro, formerly of Verona, died at 8:25 a.m. Monday, May 7th, 2018.
She was born on July 14, 1922, in Raphine, a daughter of McKinley C. and Mamie (Cash) Brooks.
She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and was active in the food pantry for many years. Granny enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing cards, solving crossword puzzles, reading, baking, traveling and spending time with her family.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Lillian R. and Bobby J. Reed of Waynesboro, Janet R. and Bee S. Myers of Fort Defiance, and Becki R. Tinsley of Staunton, and a son and daughter-in-law, George A. and Vickie G. Ralston of Verona. Two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary “Mike” and Bill Cupp of Crimora, and Phyllis and Tom Knicely of Verona. Two brothers-in-law, Thomas Ralston of Staunton, and Stanley Cline of Vinton. Ten grandchildren, Kim (Danny) Reade, Tabby Diehl, Todd (Donna) Reed, Rod (Tiffani) Diehl, Phillip (Tina) Tinsley, Rachele (Curtis) Clatterbaugh, Aaron (Lisa) Tinsley, Jason (Maria) Ralston, Brian (Sally) Myers, Lorena Karicofe. Twenty great grandchildren, Angie Eutsler, Britney Shifflett, Brooke Reade, Corey Chestnut, Jacob Diehl, Adam Reade, Isaac Diehl, Savannah Diehl, Bailey Reed, Chase Reed, Ciara Reed, Jake Myers, Carter Tinsley, Addie Myers, Tobias Ralston, Cole Tinsley, Sarah Tinsley, Reagan Tinsley, Kinsley Karicofe, Adele Ralston. Three great-great grandchildren. Close family friend Jim Harner.
There will be no public viewing and funeral services will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions, in her memory, to the Rebekah Class at Memorial Baptist Church, 224 Taylor Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
