Dorothy Anderson

Dorothy “Aunt Dot” Anderson, 80 of Staunton, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 17, 2017 in Waynesboro.

Dot was born on June 6, 1937, in Staunton, to the late Omie Johnson, Sr. and the late Dorothy Fuller Salisbury.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Marie Pullins and Lillian Johnson and a brother, Omie Johnson, Jr.

Dot spent most of her life in Washington, DC, where she was employed as a Research Psychologist. She was a member of Mt. Salem Baptist Church.

She is survived by a special niece, Ella Spears and her husband, Sam; a special companion, Donell R. Vaughn; sisters, Mildred Nelson and Harriet Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, VA 22939 and other times at the home of Ella Spears.

A funeral service will be held 11:00am on Friday, July 21, 2017, at Mt. Salem Baptist Church, 1015 Stuart Street, Staunton, VA 24401, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Floyd Miles.

Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Staunton.
