DORIS MAE EMERY, 93, of Stuarts Draft, VA, died Saturday, June 10, 2017. She was born on November 29, 1923, in Paterson, NJ, to Aaron and Vera Both. She had one brother, Ed, who predeceased her. Doris was widowed twice, first by John Thomas Redinger, the father of their four children, and later by Warren Emery. Doris and John moved to Charlottesville in 1974, where Doris worked for a legal publishing company, Best Products and finally JC Penney's, where many will remember her pleasant nature at the customer service counter. After John died, Doris followed her cousin to Florida where she helped care for his ailing wife. There she met Warren Emery and they married in 1994. Never much for the heat of Florida, the pair relocated to Stuarts Draft to be closer to the family she was so proud of, carrying with her for decades newspaper articles and photos, documenting the memories of so many important events in their various lives. Doris lived a long and rich life, full of lifelong friends and family. She will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, her compassion, her laughter, her quick wit and her love of all things cards and games. She leaves behind four children and three grandchildren: her son, Craig Redinger and his wife, Martha, of Ivy, Va; her son, Bryan Redinger of Charlottesville,Va; her son, Glenn Redinger of Charlottesville, Va; her daughter, Janice Redinger of Charlottesville, Va; and her grandsons, Kyle, Eric and Daniel. A celebration of Doris' life will be held on Saturday, June 17th at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Stuarts Draft Retirement Community.
