David Richard Snider, 91, of Fishersville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at Augusta Health.He was born April 16, 1927 in Fairfield, son of the late Samuel S. Snider and the late Maggie Runkle Snider.He was a lifelong member of Fishersville United Methodist Church, where he served for many years on the Property Committee. He was an honorably discharged Army Veteran serving during WWII in the U. S. Occupation Forces in Germany. He retired in 1985 from Dupont Waynesboro Plant after 37 years of service. He was an avid gardener who shared his produce with family and many friends.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Georgia Roadcap Snider; brothers, James, Stanley, Curtis, Francis, Frank and a sister, Stella Mohler Wimer.He is survived by his children, Doug Snider and his wife, Sue of New Hope, Tim Snider and his wife, Gloria of Verona and Carol Cummings and her husband, Andy of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Sarah Theiss and her husband, Gary, Garrett Snider and his wife, Esther, Gage Snider, Katie Cummings and Ryan Cummings; great grandson, Adam Theiss; sister, Anna Parrish of Staunton; brother, Sam Snider of Fishersville, sisters-in-law, Louise Snider and Rose Snider and Inez Roadcap; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends, Margaret Smith, Pastors Gene Williams, Ryan Oswald and Harley Bender.The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, VA 22939.A funeral service will be held 1:00pm on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Fishersville United Methodist Church, 1600 Jefferson Highway, Fishersville, VA 22939 conducted by the Rev. Charles F. Bates.Active Pallbearers will be Garrett Snider, Gage Snider, Ryan Cummings, Steve Parrish, Scott Shaver, Chris Weaver, Bobby Smith and Billy Beach.Interment to follow at Augusta Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Fishersville United Methodist Church.
