David Wayne Sorrels, 60, of Waynesboro, passed away Friday, July 5, 2019. He was born May 8, 1959 in Buena Vista, son of Ruth Isabelle Shoemaker Sorrels of Buena Vista and the late Herbert Eugene Sorrels.
David was a graduate of Virginia Tech and Parry McCluer High School and was a maintenance mechanic with Burris Logistics, Lyndhurst, where he has been employed since 1992. He was member of the International Association of Turtles, an avid carpenter and he enjoyed archery, fishing, hunting and music.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Sorrels and his aunt, Charlene Shoemaker.
Survivors include his mother, Ruth Sorrels of Buena Vista; two sons, Steven Sorrels and his wife, Brittany of Staunton and Nickolas Sorrels of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, Olivia Sorrels, Tempest Sorrels and Robin Sorrels, who referred to him as “Daddy Paw”, and one brother, James Sorrels and his wife, Sharon of Troutville.
There will be a memorial gathering of family and friends from 5-8 pm, Friday, July 12, 2019, at the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville.
