Alice Gosnell Oleska

Alice Gosnell Oleska, 92, of Waynesboro, danced into heaven to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 2, 2018 in Fishersville.

She was born on February 21, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Archie and Margaret Gosnell.

A graduate of Dunsmore Business School, she was employed at Woodrow Wilson General Army Hospital where she met her husband and married him on June 7, 1947. She was employed at Staunton Chamber of Commerce, and Wilson Elementary School. Most of all she loved being a homemaker, wife and a stay at home mother. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Staunton. She enjoyed family gatherings, painting, birds, flowers and music.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, William and Helen Gosnell and Robert and Joan Gosnell. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Metro Oleska; daughters, Peggy (Steve) Riley, Karen (Mark) Richardson, Beth (Jim) Arehart and Kathy (Curtis) Dillow; grandchildren, Nicole Riley, Thomas (Laura) Riley, Ashley Riley, Jason (Marsha) Arehart, Angela (Evan) Wirt, Justin Arehart and Sarah; Kristen (John) Thomas, Megan Dillow and Cody Dillow; ten great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; sisters-in-law, Mary Radio and Kathryn Solan and numerous nieces and nephews. She leaves a special friend and loving caregiver, Vilene Horton.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, VA 22929, where a funeral service will be held in the chapel at 11:00am on Thursday, December 6, 2018.

Interment will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Legacy of North Augusta for their wonderful care over the last several months. A sincere thank you to the physicians and staff of Augusta Health for the care of Alice, as well as the family.
