Al Franklin “Frankie” Whitesell, 80, of Waynesboro, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 21, 2018, at his home. He was born February 20, 1938, in Waynesboro, son of the late Alfred B. Whitesell and Lucille Nannie DePriest Whitesell.
Frankie was a U. S. Army veteran and a retired Supervisor with the City of Waynesboro, with 30 years of service. He was a Lifetime Member of the Waynesboro First Aid Crew, attended Waynesboro City Schools and was a part-time painting contractor. He enjoyed playing softball and bowling and he loved his family.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Intrepid Hospice and his Hospice caregiver, Tracey Wolfe.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Lee Hewitt Whitesell and two sisters, Betty Lou Drumheller and Frances Lucille Via.
He is survived by his sons, Frankie L. (Wanda) Whitesell and A. Brandon (Melissa) Whitesell; his daughters, Lisa W. (Matt) Hanger and Rose M. Lakatos; nieces, nephews, five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M., Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Dr., Fishersville.
A graveside services will be held at 2:00 P. M., Friday, May 25, 2018, at Riverview Cemetery, conducted by Pastor David Gibson. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery.
