Ronald Hayes Elza III (Rocky) passed on to heaven on Friday, March 15 at Augusta Health hospital surrounded by his family. His family is comforted by the fact that he is out of pain and is with his heavenly family. Rocky, born in Virginia on November 10, 1990, is the son of Deborah Grimm (David) and Ronald H. Elza, Sr. (deceased).
He is survived by his sisters Angel Elza of FL, Shannon Burgess (Kevin) of Montross, Carissa Laoang (Jeff) of FL and Tracey Grimm (Rod) of ME. Rocky is survived by his brothers, Ron Elza, Jr. of TX, Jerry Chatham (Michelle) of Fredericksburg, VA. He leaves behind his loving aunts, Geri Elza of Kents Island, MD (with whom he had a special bond), Ellen McDorman of Broadway, and Rebecca Jalbert (Tom) of Harrisonburg. He is survived by his uncle, Wayne Bolton (Betty) of FL. He also is survived by his grandmother, Nancy Bolton of Harrisonburg and his great-aunts, Sue Brown (Russell) and Velda White of Singers Glen. He will be missed by his cousins, Ian (Roanoke) and Curt (NY) McDorman and Megan Adams (John) (MT). He is survived by his nieces and nephew, Sophia and Dylan Laoang, Everly Chatham, and Emma and Kayley Burgess. He is also survived by his great-nieces and nephew, Gemma, Levi, Clover, Sylvie Jo and Margot Adams. Rocky was preceded in death by his cousin, Matthew Phelan, his grandfather, Jerry Bolton, and his grandparents Julius and Marion Elza.
Rocky was a friend to everyone he met, and was generous to everyone. He always had a smile on his face and loved to give hugs. He enjoyed making people laugh and helping those in need.
Burial will be private with a celebration of life to be held in the spring.
