Reed Carl Eagle, Jr.

Reed Carl Eagle, Jr., 83, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2024 at The Retreat in Fishersville.

A son of the late Reed Carl Eagle, Sr. and Ruth Laura Eagle (nee Shaw), he was born on December 27, 1940 in Washington, D.C.

After graduating in 1957 from McLean High School in McLean, Va, he attended the then Ferrum Junior College, studying drafting and mechanical engineering. He worked as a design engineer in the pharmaceutical industry for over 30 years.

Reed was a lifelong lover of all things motorized. During his retirement, he began designing and building radio-controlled power boats. He was a proud member of the North American Model Boat Association and competed in many sponsored races throughout the country.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his ex-wife, and mother of his children, Pat Lee Burkholder Eagle.

Surviving are his children: Nancy Ruth Eagle, of Palmyra, Susan Eagle Jones of Fishersville, and Keith Alan Eagle and his wife, Cathy of Apex, NC; five grandchildren: Jessica Velasco Bustamante, Cory Hayes Potter, Reed Malcolm Jones, Meredith Hodgkinson Jones, and Grace Irene Eagle; two great-grandchildren, Irah and Ezrah Bustamante; his brother, Robert Roy Eagle of Baton Rouge, LA; and his ex-wife, Maura Joyce Eagle of FL.

The family will hold a memorial service for friends and family at a later date at Charlton & Groome Funeral Home and Crematory in Fishersville.
