Earl Smith Obituary

Earl Louis Smith, 83, of Stanardsville, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Monday evening, April 22, 2024 at Augusta Health Fishersville. He was born August 16, 1940 in Arlington, Virginia to the late Ralph Palmer Smith and Jacqueline Angeletta Smith.

Earl attended Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia and retired as a route driver with Esquire Cleaners with over 35 years of service.  He attended First Bible Baptist Church, Stanardsville. In his youth he played Little League Baseball and led the league in hitting.  Throughout his life he was a big sports fan.  Earl was loved by all and was well known in the community.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the Hospice of the Piedmont and to Augusta Health. Also, a special thank you is extended to Ginny Henderson for visiting and checking on my Dad’s health and for assisting the family.

Earl is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean L. Smith; his daughter, Loretta Lynn Farley and her husband, Thomas of Waynesboro; his son, Ralph Smith of Charlottesville; his two grandchildren, Olivia Farley and Austin Farley, both of Waynesboro; his siblings, Gary Smith and his wife, Marie of Frederick, Maryland, Delores Nash of Bridgewater, Jerry Neal Smith of Brightwood, Virginia and Frank Stump of North Carolina; other special relatives and friends, Randall and Ann Lawson and their daughter, Bonnie Eppard, Jesse Scheckler and Brandon McDaniel and Earl’s best friend, Gilmer Lawson, all of Stanardsville.

The family appreciates your compassionate understanding during this very trying time. There is no formal service of remembrance planned.
