Barbara Ann (Stewart) King

Mrs. Barbara Ann King, age 89 of Fishersville, VA , passed away on Tuesday, March 19th, 2024.

The daughter of the late Jessie and Elsie Stewart, she was born on October 14th, 1934 in West Columbia, WV.

Barbara dedicated many years to her career in the telecommunications industry. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her friends and family. One of her favorite trips was an Alaskan cruise, spent with her late husband and friends. She was a member of the Fishersville United Methodist Church for many years and enjoyed time spent on day trips and weekend get-a-ways with the Silver Foxes.

Barbara always presented herself in the best possible light. She was the kindest, sweetest, best back rubber, most giving with her love, understanding, thoughtful, honest, genuine, authentic, ornery when she wanted to be, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Barbara was preceded in death by her late husband, Ralph L. King of 30 years and two brothers.

Surviving family members is her daughter, Elsa L. Walker of Fishersville, VA; one grandson, Nathan Teter and one granddaughter, Ryann Coles and husband, Stuart Coles both of Waynesboro, VA; six great-grandchildren, Alexandra Teter, Hannah Coles, Makenna Teter, Canaan Coles, Camden Teter, and Rhea Coles; two step-daughters, Charlene Walters and Peggy Lance and their family.

Barbara was loved by many, she touched the lives of those around her with her warmth and kindness, she loved her family immensely, and we love her, she will be truly missed.

A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, March 24th, 2024 from 2-4PM at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home in Fishersville, VA.

A private graveside burial will be following immediately after at the United Methodist Church of Fishersville Cemetery. 

Barbara’s family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the staff at The Retreat for taking such good care of her, during her last weeks and days. Your caring nature did not go unnoticed. Thank you.
