William "Pete" "Gator" Chaplin

William “Pete” “Gator” Chaplin, 68 of Lyndhurst passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at his home.

He was born in Waynesboro on August 27, 1948.

He was a veteran in the Navy during the Vietnam era. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Vernie Johnson; step-father, Leslie R. Johnson and a sister, Brenda Faye Chaplin.

He is survived by his beloved friend and wife of 47 years, Carolyn Chaplin; daughters, Theresa Harris and Deborah Wilson; grandchildren, Tara Harris, Kayla Dooms and Lucas Wilson; great grandson, Xavier Lawson and a sister, Janet Marie Chaplin.

The family would like to extend special thank you to Joe and Barbara Patterson, Raymond and June Snead and Freada Hedrick.

Services will be private.
