Whitfield L. “Whit” Bryant, Jr.

Whitfield Lee Bryant, Jr., also known as Whit, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015 in Fishersville after a hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

He was born March 12, 1936 in Albemarle County, VA to the late Whitfield L. Bryant, Sr. and the late Jakie T. Bryant.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Anna C. Bryant.

Whit briefly served in the Air Force and retired from both General Electric and Alcoa.  He loved the outdoors and, prior to his illness, often spent time in the woods hunting and fishing.  The remainder of his time was spent with his family, whom he loved dearly.

He is survived by his children: Wendell Bryant and wife Jacki of Staunton, Barry Bryant and wife Lisa of Stuarts Draft, and Wanda Bryant Weaver and husband Chaz of Stuarts Draft; six grandchildren: Brianne Anderson, Nicholas Bryant, Tesla Bryant, Buddy Bryant, Taylor Johnson and Theron Johnson; great grandchild, Aubree Wallace; a sister, Doris Rittenhouse and husband David; and four brothers: Herman Bryant and wife Gladys, Wilbur Bryant and wife Betty, Carl Bryant, and Roger Bryant.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm and a funeral service will be held in the chapel at 12:30 pm on Monday, November 30, 2015 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, VA. A reception will follow at his daughter’s home.

Interment will be private at Augusta Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation so a cure might be found for this terrible disease.
