Steve J. Massie, Sr.

Steve J. Massie, Sr., 91, of Waynesboro, went to be with the Lord at 10:22 am, Friday, April 29, 2016, at his home with his son and daughter at his side.  He was born in Montebello, Nelson County, on November 10, 1924, son of the late Sheffie and Nettie Massie.

Steve was a World War II Army veteran and served with the 157th Combat Engineer Battalion in the European Theater.  He retired from Con Agra in 1988 with 39½ years of service and he was an avid hunter, fisherman, bowler and pool player.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lois T. Massie; his son, Steve J. Massie, Jr. of Crimora; his daughter, Delores Jean Massie of Waynesboro; two brothers, Roy Massie of Stuarts Draft and Ben Massie of Fairfield; seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two special nephews, David Cash of Amherst and Gary Massie of Waynesboro.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 7, 2016 in the Chapel of the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, conducted by Pastor Bruce Hankee.

Interment, with Military Honors, will be in Augusta Memorial Park, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 8 pm, Friday, May 6, 2016.
