Samuel David Flory, 72, of Waynesboro, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, March 28, 2018, at his home. He was born February 23, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois. Sam attended Bridgewater College from 1964-66 and Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College of Virginia from 1966–69, where he received a BS Degree in Pharmacy. From 1967–69, he was a member of Phi Delta Chi Pharmacy Fraternity and served as president his senior year. He was a president of the Broad Rock Ruritan Club. As a member of Wayne Hills Baptist Church, Sam served as a deacon, elder, and chairman of the elders.
Sam is survived by his wife, Lillian Virostek Flory; two daughters, Stefanie Wooldridge and her husband, Jason of Suffolk and Emily Rodes and her husband, Murray of Waynesboro; his sister, Ruth F. Evans and her husband, Abe of Bridgewater and his two granddaughters, Evelyn Rodes and Margaret Rodes. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond W. Flory and mother, Doris F. Flory, and his sister, Rebecca F. Orebaugh.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Wayne Hills Baptist Church, Waynesboro, conducted by Pastor Brandon Pickett and Rev. Dr. Danny Campbell. Burial will be private for the family.
The family will receive friends from 6–8 pm, Friday, April 6, 2018, at the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, VA.
