Richard Allen “Cowboy” Jefferson, 55, of Staunton, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 12, 2017. He was born June 17, 1961 in Washington, DC and was the son of the late Harvey France and Mary Aladdin Gravely.
“Cowboy” attended Arbor Hill Church of the Brethren and was employed by Commonwealth Excavating. He loved gardening, playing guitar and Karaoke. He had tons of friends and brothers along the way as he was one who never met a stranger. Being the life of the party, he always liked to let his hair down.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ellissa Mae France and Angela Drummond, a brother, Harvey “Hubs” France and his beloved dog, “Brownie”.
He is survived by his son, Jeremiah Alan “Germ” Jefferson and wife, Brittany of Crimora; one sister, Bonnie Marks; one brother, Cecil France; his two grandchildren, Brooklyn Michelle Jefferson and Jaxon Alan Walker “Jax” Jefferson who referred to him as “Happy Pappy”; his former wife, Sandra Kay Jefferson; his girlfriend, Loretta Fitzgerald and their two dogs, Prissy and Gizmo.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Arbor Hill Church of the Brethren, 1473 Middlebrook Road, Staunton, VA 24401, conducted by Pastor Grant Simmons,
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Arbor Hill Church of the Brethren.
