Pat Staples Garnett of 35 Beverly Court, Waynesboro, Virginia passed way unexpectedly on June 6, 2016 at the age of 71. Pat was born on April 20, 1945 to the late Howard A. Staples and Dora Virginia Staples.

Pat met her loving husband, Mike Garnett, in the third grade and have been together ever since.  They have been married for 55 years.

Pat is survived by her husband, Mike Garnett; two children, her daughter, Penny Garnett Taylor of Waynesboro and her son, Robert Shayne Garnett and wife, Lisa Miller Garnett also of Waynesboro and a special (ex) son-in-law, David Tate Taylor; two brothers, Howard A. Staples II and wife, Carol of Roanoke and Barry Staples and wife, Kandy of Grottoes; three sisters, Jeanne Moore of Roanoke, Connie Baber of Grottoes, Emily Staples of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Michael Shayne Garnett of Staunton, Logan Taylor and Lucus Taylor both of Waynesboro and Rhianna Garnett of Waynesboro; five nieces and nephews, Tracy Staples and wife, Melanie, Chrystal Betteridge and husband, Allen, Amy Bryant and husband, Todd, Neil Moore of Roanoke and Scott Moore and wife, Penny of Roanoke; a very special niece, Chelsie Haines and son, Nolan of Waynesboro and great-granddaughter, Naomi Elizabeth Skyy Taylor, the joy of her life.

A lifelong artist, Pat was well known for beautiful watercolors and painting.  Pat’s artistic ability stretched through all art mediums.  She loved sharing her talent through teaching. Pat’s vivid spirit showed through her wonderful works of art.  Pat’s artwork brought so much joy to many people.  Pat will be missed deeply by her family and friends and the art community.

Family and friends are welcome to join us in the celebration of Pat’s life to be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 4-8 PM in the Fellowship Hall at Waynesboro Mennonite Church, 1801 Monroe Street, Waynesboro.

Memorial donations may be made to Waynesboro Mennonite Church, 1801 Monroe Avenue, Waynesboro, VA 22980 and/or the Shenandoah Valley Art Center, 125 S. Wayne Avenue, Waynesboro VA 22980.
