Marion "Wayne" Henkel

Wayne Henkel, 73, of Crimora, passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 26, 2016.

He was born April 10, 1942 to the late James and Kathleen Henkel. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, William "Billy" Henkel.   

He is survived by his wife, Joy Henkel; his children Robert Henkel and wife, Pam, Beverly
Lawson and husband, C.J., Cynthia Henkel and step-daughter, Wendy Brooks and husband, Jimmy; four grandchildren, Jason Lawson and wife, Erin, Eric Lawson, Justin Henkel and girlfriend, Kayla, Christopher Henkel and fiancé, Kari-Lyn; three great-grandchildren, Brody and Harrison Lawson; and McKenna Henkel. His sisters, Mary Clark and Joann Gardella and her husband, Lucky and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Wayne will be missed by many of the people he met through his life's journey. Though his
body had weakened he still had his great sense of humor and jokes that he was known for and
continued to his final days.

Wayne lived life to its fullest. He loved working on anything that had a motor, camping and
fishing with family and friends.

One of his greatest achievements was he could fix, repair or rebuild anything he worked on.

He worked in maintenance at Woodberry School in Orange VA for many years before his
retirement in 2005.

A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held on February 6th, 2016 at 2:00pm at the
Barboursville Volunteer Fire Department, 5251 Spotswood Trail, Barboursville, VA 22923, with The
Reverend Ricky Clatterbuck officiating; a fellowship meal will follow at 3:00.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Wayne's name to The Grottoes
Rescue Squad, (Thank you Grottoes EMT's), 805 Augusta Ave Grottoes VA 24441 or your choice
of any local Volunteer Fire and Rescue department.
