Lyn Smith

Lyn Smith, 63, of Lyndhurst, went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Augusta Health, Fishersville.  He was born May 5, 1952 in Waynesboro, son of the late Henry Smith and Ruth Smith Hill.

Lyn was a 1971 graduate of Wilson Memorial High School and a U. S. Army veteran where he served in the Signal Corps and he was an Expert Marksman. He retired from DuPont with over 35 years of service and following his retirement worked as a Meat Cutter at the Waynesboro Kroger.  An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Smith; two step children, Michelle and Kim; four step grandchildren, Trevor, Alli, Angel and Noah; two step great-grandchildren, Alechia and McCara; his sister, Gloria Snider and husband, Timothy of Verona; his nephews, Garrett and Gage and his beloved pets, “Jessie” and “Hunter”.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 6:00 PM, Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville and where a Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 PM conducted by Pastor Terence Williams.  Military Honors will be accorded at the service.

In lieu of flower the family suggests contributions to the Wildlife Center of Virginia, P. O. Box 1557, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
