Mrs. Loretta Ann Redd White, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the home of her eldest daughter in Waynesboro, VA, after losing a long, progressive battle with vascular dementia.
Born May 4, 1930, she was the youngest of 11 children born to Harry Davidson Redd and Sallie Sarah Brown Redd. She was a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church and a graduate of Rosenwald High School class of 1948. She was a talented musician, who with other family members, played in her brother’s Jazz band “The Redd Dotts” for over 30 years. In later years, she occasionally played piano and organ for a few local churches and for special occasions upon request.
Preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Wayne Thomas White, Sr., she is survived by her children, Carolyn, Cynthia, Donna, Gail, Edward (Ayuko, wife), Wayne Jr. (Myown, wife), Beverly, David, Richard, and Garry; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Wallace Redd of Waynesboro; one sister, Matilda Redd Wallace of Elizabeth City, NJ; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, VA 22980 and where a funeral service will be held 11:00am in the chapel conducted by Rev. Ayuko White. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
