Kenneth K. "Mickey" Bailey

Kenneth K. “Mickey” Bailey, 90, of Waynesboro, fell asleep in death on Monday, August 22, 2016.  He was born in Sherando on June 8, 1926, son of the late E. F. “Curly” Bailey and Winnie Davis Bocock.

In 1986 he retired from DuPont with over 41 years of service.  Mickey also worked as an AFLAC Office Administrator with his son, Kenny, in Waynesboro, for 15 years following his DuPont retirement. He was a U. S. Navy-Air Force Veteran of World War II.

Mickey loved people and never met a stranger. He also was an avid UVA sports fan. He was a member of the Stuarts Draft Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  In recent years he really enjoyed the website jw.org.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel M. Bailey, in October 2015 and his half-brother, Dave Bocock.

He is survived by his son, Kenneth Ray Bailey and his wife, Dawn; grandchildren, Lauren and Zane Bailey; his siblings, Maxine (Billy) Hunt of Waynesboro, Lonnie (Doris) Bailey of Sherando, Louie (Bertha) Bailey of Greenwood and Kirkland “Cookie” (Carolyn) Bailey of Sherando and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 am on Friday, August 26, 2016 at The Stuarts Draft Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 732 Augusta Farms Road, Waynesboro, VA 22980. Friends will be received afterwards.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the care he received at Augusta Health, UVA Hospital and the Hospice of the Piedmont Center for Acute Hospice Care.
