Judith Beverley Juergens, of Nellysford, Virginia died peacefully at her home surrounded by her
family on Saturday, June 24, 2017. She was 76 years old.
Judy was born on December 7, 1940 in Alexandria, Virginia to Richard Henry Carter Beverley
Jr. and Mary Jane Busch, who predeceased her. She was a graduate of Whitefish Bay High
School in Milwaukee, WI, and the University of Wisconsin Madison majoring in Art Education.
Honored as Homecoming Queen for the University of Wisconsin in 1961 and was a member of
Alpha Phi Sorority. She married her high school sweetheart, David Albert Juergens, on August
24, 1963.
She had a successful initial career as an art education teacher, then Vice President of Glaize
and Brothers Lumber Company and as a George Glaize Real Estate agent in Winchester,
Virginia. She was active in the Little Garden Club of Winchester and served on the Board of
Directors for the Preservation of Historic Winchester. In 1996, Judy and David began their
retirement together at Wintergreen Resort, of which they were founding members. She served
as the President of the Wintergreen Property Owner’s Association and President of The
Wintergreen Nature Foundation.
Her early community service included the Junior League of Milwaukee, WI and Wichita, KS.
Served on the Board of Directors of the Wichita Art Association. Talented interior designer and
accomplished creator of handmade crafts. Quilting and playing bridge with her friends brought
her much happiness in her retirement. She was very proud of her Blue Ribbon award winning
quilt and she lovingly made quilts for all of her children and grandchildren. Judy was a member
of the Wintergreen Loose Threads Quilting Club.
Judy is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, David and their children: Scott Juergens
and wife, Tricia, of Winchester, VA; Timothy Juergens and wife, Janine, of Winchester, VA; and
Christopher Juergens and wife, Kimberly, of Summerfield, NC; and 9 grandchildren including
Jessica and husband, Jason Fauver, and Kaitlyn Juergens of Winchester, VA; Jonah and John
Marshall Juergens of Winchester, VA; and Carter, Tyler, Samuel, Michael, and Andrew Juergens
of Summerfield, NC. Judy is also survived by her brothers, R.H. Carter Beverley, III of
Tennessee and Robert L. Beverley of South Carolina.
She was grateful for the staff and physicians at Augusta Health Oncology providing excellent
care during her lengthy battle with cancer. To her friends and family for their constant love and
support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in memoriam to the Augusta Health
