Johnnie June Turner, Jr.

Johnnie June Turner Jr, 76, of Waynesboro, passed away on September 17, 2015 at Augusta Health, Fishersville.

Born in Nelson County on October 7, 1938 he was the son of the late Johnnie Turner Sr. and the late Nannie Gray Turner.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, David Wayne Turner.

            He attended school in Nelson County and retired from General Electric with 31 years of service. He worked at Blue Ridge Plywood and Food Lion until his illness. He was a member of Saint James Baptist Church.

 
            He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, great uncle and friend. His smile, grin and friendly personality made him special to all who knew him. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and wearing a different baseball cap every day.

            Those left to cherish the wonderful life he lived is his bride of 60 years, Margaret Brooks Turner; children, James “Dankie” (Audrey) Turner, John Turner, Andy (Barbra) Turner, Patricia Flipping, Joseph Turner, Daniel Turner, and David (April) Turner Sr.; brother, Roger Turner Sr. and sister-in law Janet.

He loved his 11 grandchildren; Nate, Andrea, Joseph, John (Alyssa), Shales (Joseph), Tonaka (Jonathan), Trenae (Christopher), Brittney (Jay), Aries, David Jr. and Elijah and his 10 great grandchildren; Angeline, Italeigh, Kaylee, Chantel, Aiden, Kara, Igypt, Seijon, Gamiya, Jomarri and numerous nieces and nephews.

            Johnnie holds a special place in his heart for his brother Roger, sister-law Janet, daughter in-law Audrey Turner, niece LesJane Brooks Barbour and nephew Kenneth (Reggie) Brooks.
    

The family would like to thank the staff of Envoy, Augusta Health, Hospice of the Shenandoah, Saint James Baptist Church Family, Ollie Wells and her family for all their love and support.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, September 21, 2015 at Charlton and Groome Funeral; Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, VA 22939.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Saint James Baptist Church, 1094 Albemarle Ave. Waynesboro, VA 22980 conducted by Rev. Mark McCoy, Jr.

Active pallbearers, Dupree Flipping, Allen Ford, Jeff Brooks, Allen McCauley, Michael Eaves and Patrick Caul.

Interment to follow at Riverview Cemetery.
