Harry W. Hypes

Harry W. Hypes, 91, of Waynesboro went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Augusta Health, Fishersville.  He was born in West Virginia on March 25, 1925 the son of the late Roy Burnett Hypes and Pauline Isabell Long Hypes.

Harry loved woodworking and gardening.  He attended Blue Ridge Chapel. During his career he worked with Ronnie Ritchie Service Co., Lane Company in Altavista and Stanley Furniture.  

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret C. Hypes; one son, Stan Hypes and his wife, Debbie of Staunton; one daughter, Zoe Jordan and her husband, David of Currituck, North Carolina.; three grandchildren, Eric Hypes and his wife, Lindsey of Waynesboro; Cameron Hypes and his wife, Kelsey of Waynesboro; Rachel Jordan of Currituck, North Carolina and three great-grandchildren, Harley Ann, Madison and Sawyer. He thought the world of all of his grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by three sisters and many nephews and nieces. 

The family would like to say a special thank you to all of the nurses and doctors at Augusta Health on the second floor who helped to take care of Harry throughout the years.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, October 10, 2016 at Augusta Memorial Park, Waynesboro, conducted by Reverend Dee Flory and Reverend Ken Dolan.  Family and friends will gather at the cemetery for the service. A meal will follow at Blue Ridge Chapel in Waynesboro. 

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Shenandoah, C/o Augusta Health Foundation, PO Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939, the Waynesboro First Aid Crew, 201 W. Broad Street, Waynesboro, VA 22980 or the Waynesboro Fire Department, 300 W. Broad Street, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
