Gene Monroe Obituary

Gene Douglas Monroe, 65 of Crimora, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 19, 2018. He was born on July 9, 1952 in Waynesboro, Virginia.

Doug was employed by Carter Machinery in Fishersville for 32 years as a diesel mechanic. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and time with his very much loved grandchildren.

He was the son of the late Paul Graham Monroe and Ruby Lorene Monroe; brother of the late Donald, Alan, and Mark Monroe.

He is survived by his loving wife Linda F. Monroe; his three children Donna Lewis, Jeff Monroe and his wife Jessie, Rebecca Wheeler and her husband Chris; seven grandchildren, Jacob, Emily, and Josh Lewis, Hunter and Austin Monroe, Hannah and Wyatt Wheeler; and his canine companion, Sadie.

The pallbearers are Jacob Lewis, Josh Lewis, Hunter Monroe, Austin Monroe, Wyatt Wheeler, and Chris Wheeler.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 25, 2018 1:00pm at Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, VA with a funeral service following at 2:00pm. Interment Edgewood Cemetery, Weyers Cave, Virginia.
