Edward S. "Sambo" Thompson

Edward S. “Sambo” Thompson, 66, of Waynesboro, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, December 4, 2016, at Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center, Richmond.  He was born June 26, 1950 in Waynesboro, the son of the late Elsie Kerby Thompson and Carl D. Thompson.

Sambo was an Army veteran of the Viet Nam War and he truly loved his Harley.

He is survived by one son, Scott E. Thompson and wife, Tammy of Lyndhurst; one daughter, Shellie Blackwell and husband, Ross of Lyndhurst; two sisters, Juanita Lilly of Grottoes and Rebecca “Becky” Ditton and husband, Mike of Rock Hill, South Carolina and four grandchildren, Morgan, Kaitlyn, Meaghan and Tesla.

A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at 7:00 pm, Thursday, December 8, 2016 in the chapel of Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, conducted by The Rev. Michael Ditton. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday from 6:00 pm until the hour of the service.
